Boquete is one region inside the Panama’s country side. Because of this not every economic activity works in this part of the country but these are the main ones here.
Agriculture.
Maybe you know but Chiriquí contributes to 40% of all foods products in the country. Besides that most of exporting products are grown here too so you will never be in the lack of a specific product. Boquete in particular excels in coffee plantations, peppers, onions and potatoes.
Tourisim
Been in the countryside makes this place to be in full contact with nature and outdoor activities are always close to you. There are also another business that take advantage of Boquete’s tourism like restaurants and souvenirs shops, etc.
Real Estate
Real estate is a big activity here because been in a cool weather climate a lot of people from Panama City or other parts of the country want to move here too so there are a lot of expats working as brokers or in the decoration and interior design business. Some others work as builders or providing maintaining services to houses, land lots or properties.
All of what I’ve mention works good increasing the local economy. Because we are separated by distance from Panama city there is an economic isolation. Boquete’s and Chiriqui’s economy works independently from the capital’s because those are different markets and different business companies. Everything is different, and the same thing goes with unemployment or any future and unlikely economic crisis. If they happen, this would be the last part of the country been afected.
